Slingers and cake

The Dutch take birthdays seriously. They wish the ‘party piggy’ a happy birthday but also congratulate family members on the event. Perhaps friends, too. Cake is essential and the party room is festooned with ‘slingers’: long, colourful paper or cloth garlands that hang across the ceiling. This new screen-printed tile design using Eclipse and Quarter Circle tiles, is our tribute to this celebratory Dutch tradition!
