Japan in France

Van Gogh, the Dutch artist, spent much of his working life in France and was, for a while, strongly influenced by Japanese art. He appreciated the expanses of strong colour, the focus on nature and the sense of joy. There is a suggestion of that in this design: the grouping of screen-printed tiles makes us think of foliage, and the greens and reds, should you want to use them, are typical of the colours of Japanese art. You may, of course, want to shake things up and create, for example, Mexico in Saudi Arabia; we’ll even help!
