Each phase of the moon lasts around 29.5 days, which is (very) roughly how long it takes to make our tiles. The clay is mixed, dried, pummelled, extruded, formed, dried, smoothed, fired, glazed and fired again. In honour of this artisan process, we created this tile installation design, a disrupted lunar calendar suggesting the phases of the moon. Or perhaps (more likely) the connection occurred to us after the design. Hard to remember.
